I wish to express my grave concern at China's treatment of North Koreans and the humanitarian workers who assist them. I strongly urge the government of China to act compassionately towards the men, women and children escaping from the repressive regime of North Korea by granting them refugee status; halting their victimisation by human traffickers while in China; giving them safe passage to third countries; and by immediately stopping the forcible repatriation of North Koreans.
